You know that feeling of ecstasy as you begin to run in rain? At first its just a means to not become completely drenched but then you are accelerating and your body is loosening up and you heart beat inches faster and you’re flying. Power and control and the excitement of exhilaration all mix together to create a sudden clarity and focus. In this moment you’re thinking about nothing and everything all at once. But then you’ve reached your destination or the rain stops. Your heart is still beating with ferocity but your focus is lost… and your heart beat is slowing down. Then you become aware of your body and you realize your legs are sore. It’s these moments, when reality bursts back into focus, that the Lord wants us to accept. He wants us to accept that life isn’t all exhilaration and high, but that to get a high we have to go low. We can’t live off of that feeling of running in the rain, but we can change our perspective as to where we go from here. Arriving in Romania I’d thought I’d always be either content or contently growing and doing ministry work would be my purpose and validation. But on days like today, when we show up to the church fully prepared to spread the Word and after waiting three hours, the ministry work is canceled due to the weather and loss of time, the Lord has put on my heart that I’m not just here for the lost souls of Draganesti-Olt. He called me specifically to be His hands and feet but also to teach me how and to continue his specific work in me. For I am not finished and neither is my job. Something He helped me realize in the time when I planned to be ministering to children but instead I’m sitting inside, seemingly waiting still, is that He is always at work in all of us. He leaves the 99 sheep for the one gone astray and even though I’m in Romania right now for His glory, I still need to chase after Him. In the quiet moments when I don’t get a response, He doesn’t want me to stop asking. He wants me to look around with a new perspective because He answers us in millions of ways. All we have to do is change our view point and continue seeking Him.
