Guess who is back in Africa!
We have arrived in Swaziland and are beginning to settle in here to our new home where we will be for the next three months. We are in the bush of Africa, literally in the middle of nowhere.
Team: So my team consists of two other squad leaders. Bry and Davante! We will all three be on the field the entire 9 months with our squad leading and discipling them while serving the communities we are in. We will be over the 7 teams that are on our squad.
Ministry for the month:We are partnering with the base here in Swaziland. We are going to care points throughout our village where we feed the children, play with them, share stories, and help the local shepherds who are over that care point. We are also helping finish the facility that we are staying in.
Living Condition: We are staying in an unfinished room. This will ultimately be the hosing area for the base here but it is currently being built. So what does that look like you might ask. Well we are in cement rooms with bunk beds. The guys on the squad are tenting. We don’t have electricity, which means we get to wear our head lamps. We do have water now though!
Food: We are cooking for ourselves. In the morning we get 1/4 cup of oatmeal and two hard boiled eggs. For lunch we get a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Then for dinner we either have a Swazi meal or an American meal.
Local Language: Siswati
Currency: Rand 14 Rand to 1 U.S dollar
Climate: Some days it’s hot, some days it’s cold. We have had wind storms and thunderstorms.
Ways you can be partnering in prayer: Health over our squad. Unity amongst our squad and our teams. Wisdom and discernment as my co leaders and I begin to disciple and lead this squad. Our ministry host as they are welcoming in a second baby to their family any day.
A few photos from our first week that my squad mates took.
