Tears flowed from my eyes as I looked down at her sweet face. Her tiny body pressed against mine as I held onto her tightly. Her little fingers wrapped around me, holding on securely.
I couldn’t help but think about what her future was going to look like.
She was an orphan, left outside in a ditch, unwanted and abandoned. My heart broke into a million pieces.
The song He Knows Your Name began playing.
I began singing and proclaiming truth over her little life.
I began to pray that her past wouldn’t define her. I began to pray that she would grow up knowing Jesus and how good He is. I began praying that she would know that she was wanted and loved. I began praying that she would know He knows her name and He created her.
As my body swayed as I rocked her to sleep in my arms, The Lord began to speak over her.
He began to say…
“You are wanted. You are loved. You are a child of the most high. You are treasured. You are mine. You are precious in my sight little one.”
Giving her back and leaving was one of the hardest things I have done. Not knowing what lies ahead for her and hat her future will look like.
Knowing the Lord sees her, fights for her, and loves her deeply was enough for me to let her go and walk away.
