I stood on the roof that overlooked Siem Reap in Cambodia and was amazed at what I saw.
Houses built in the middle of swamps, murky water on all four sides.
I found myself looking at these houses in amazement frequently during my few days there. I couldn’t figure out how they built these houses. They were literally in the middle of the water. I was fascinated and blown away.
As I was observing a couple of men building a house one morning, the Lord revealed to me it’s all about the foundation. If these houses weren’t built on a solid foundation then they would crumble and the water would overtake them.
That is so true with us as well in our walk with Jesus. If our foundation isn’t rooted in Christ then we will also fail. Scripture tells us that Jesus has to be our chief cornerstone.
In ancient times, a cornerstone was used as the foundation and this is how the building was constructed. Once that one piece was in place, then the rest of the structure would conform to it due to it’s size and how it was shaped. If that one piece was removed then the entire building would collapse.
What does that look like for you, are you living a life that reflects that Jesus is your cornerstone, the only true foundation?
