I sat down with five Muslim men at the port today with my team mate Megan and translator Maruce ready to share the Good News. One of the guys had been with one of our groups before and had an SD card, which has the bible in different languages on it. He talked about how it wasn’t working and asked if he could have a new one. We said yes and gave him one.
We began speaking with them and got to know them. We heard a little bit about them and their story. They shared about their faith and why they were Muslim and had questions in regards to how to be forgiven and truly know you are going to Heaven.
We shared the love of Christ with them. After telling stories from scripture and answering many questions, we asked if a relationship with Jesus is something they wanted. They quickly said yes and prayed to ask Jesus into their lives.
At this point we began wrapping our time up. One of the guys asked if he was going to get an SD card. We told him that we didn’t come just to give out SD cards but to share the good news and that was far better than any physical item that we could give him.
He got very upset and said if he couldn’t have one then he wanted us to leave. We said alright and walked away not exactly sure about the situation.
As I walked away, I couldn’t help but think did he truly come to know the Lord or did he really just want an SD card the entire time. As soon as the thought came, the Lord convicted me and gave me a slap on the wrist. He said Kayleigh, you don’t change them, I do. He said you aren’t responsible for what they choose to believe. He reminded me that I am just the vessel and the rest is on Him.
I sat under that truck today and shared what the Lord laid on my heart and acted in obedience. That is all I am called to do, to simply go and share. The rest is up to the Lord. Maybe I just planted seeds today or maybe he came to know the Lord, I honestly don’t know. What I can say though is that I walked away in confidence that the Lord has this guy in the palm of His hands and that is enough for me.
