Over two years ago I found myself without a job for several months and unsure of what the next season of my life was going to look like. It was a time during my life where questions were rolling through my head and there was a lot of uncertainty.
I asked the Lord to pull me out of this time and to reveal to me what was next. Within the next few days I was catering and working in a kitchen. The Lord put me exactly where He wanted me. I had no idea why I was in a kitchen or what His plan was. I have always loved to cook but the Lord had a far greater plan, it just took a couple of years before I knew what that was going to look like.
Month One on the Race:
I got to cook in the kitchen with Dona Ruth. I got to talk to her about her love for catering and cooking. This lead to deep conversations and sharing about the love of the Lord. She got to teach me how to cook Colombian style and we both got to spend time together doing something we both love.
Month Two on the Race:
My ministry host found out that I cooked in the states and wanted to use that gift the Lord had given me. He wanted me to lead cooking classes for the members of his church. Stephen and I got to plan an entire meal and share about healthy eating options.
Month Three on the Race:
I have been able to cook in the kitchen with Fila and Migali. They have showed me how to prepare guinea pig, cook eggs, and so many other things. We have had conversations that started with food but then led to sharing testimonies and how good our Lord is.
I am beginning to realize that the Lord had me in a kitchen for a reason and it goes far beyond cooking. Cooking is just the start of what can happen in a kitchen. Deep relationships are grown there, love is poured out there, serving others is done there, and beautiful things are made in a kitchen. The Lord has been crafting this gift in me for a long time to not only use for cooking but to go far beyond that.
I am only in month three and the Lord has already brought deep and rich conversation through this gift He has cultivated. I can only imagine what else is to come.
