1 Corinthians 6:19
Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received form God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.
I have been doing this all wrong and God called me out. At first I was in denial and didn’t want to listen but He continued pursuing me. He continued to show me the truth and that I needed to make a change.
For so much of my life I have lived how I wanted and done it selfishly. I have exercised to some degree but never consistently. I have always known it is something that I should do but just brushed it off for later. I told myself that I was ok with how I looked and felt and it doesn’t matter what other people think.
When it comes to food….. that is my weakness. I ate what made me feel good in the moment and didn’t think about the affect it would have later. I ate what I wanted and the quantity I wanted, not caring what I was putting in my body. No control, just desire.
True health isn’t about how we are viewed externally but how we treat our bodies with the respect and care they deserve so that we can then operate at our best. In order to do Kingdom work, we need our bodies to function well in order to accomplish what He has for us. Our bodies have value in God’s eyes and we are made in His image. We are to use our bodies to bless others. We are a temple of God created to bring love and truth into a world that is in drastic need of it. By living out that truth, we acknowledge our Creator, bringing Him glory for His design.
