I sat watching kids play soccer today while talking with The Lord. I loved how when the players passed the ball to each other they made progress and could get the ball to the other end and attempt to score. When one of them tried to take the ball up the field alone they didn’t get very far, and the other team out numbered them and would end up in control.
The Lord began to use these players to speak to me. This life was not meant to be walked alone. Each moment I need to ask The Lord to open my eyes to what is around me and where He wants to take me. When you are constantly walking alongside someone you are going to know them better and find out where their heart is. My relationship with Christ isn’t supposed to be a check mark each day. It should be a lifestyle, a journey, a constant and daily desire to be with The Father.
Micah 6:8 He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.
The Lord also showed me I need my brothers and sisters in Christ as well. My natural tendency is to do things by myself and not ask others for help. The Lord is opening my eyes and making me aware that I need to step out of my comfort zone and open up to others, to let them in and not be afraid of rejection or possibly getting hurt. We are to build each other up, hold each other accountable, share the gifts The Lord has given to us with others and be vulnerable.
When sharing the weight of what this world has with others and walking alongside The Lord life is better. Just like the kids playing soccer as a team and working together, I also need to walk alongside Christ and my brothers and sisters.
