One day this month, our group went to visit a facility for homeless people. A man started taking care of a few homeless people in his garage, and it has grown into a ministry that now cares for around 300 people. Most of the people who live there have severe injuries or mental disabilities and need someone to care for them. The ministry has grown so much that even the police will pick someone up off the streets and bring them to be cared for. We walked through a giant gate to see women lying on the ground as far as we could see. It was difficult for us to imagine the hurt and suffering they have endured.

In the midst of such a depressing and dark atmosphere, the Lord is shining brightly. This Christian organization meets the physical needs of the people who live there while also sharing the Gospel with them. Our host took us to this ministry because he just wanted us to see how the Lord was working.

While we were waiting to meet the man who started this ministry, we walked to the children’s wing. A young boy ran out, grabbed my hand, and continued walking with us to the building.

Several other young children came out to see the commotion. They were slow to warm up to us, but they were hungry for love and attention. I absolutely loved getting to spend time with them. It was a success when the little ones let us pick them up.

I could have spent much longer there. However, in less than 10 minutes, they took us back to the office to meet the man who started it all.

That experience was really a time of loving the least of these. Jesus was known for loving children and giving attention to those who felt unworthy. We didn’t offer these children any physical items, but we gave them our attention, love, and affection. The love of the Father was tangible in that room, and that is why that was my favorite 10 minutes in India.
