I am going to take some time out of your day to talk about women. I think that it is no coincidence that once again, I am on an all women team. I used to hear horror stories about how being on an all women team could possibly be the worst thing ever while on the race, but for some reason.. the stories never phased me. When I got put on my first team of 6 women, I was pumped. This group of women rocked. Then, I had a team change after month 1 and had 2 more women added to my team. Month 5 rolled around and team changed were happening and you guessed it. I got put on another team of all women.
Before I got my team, the Lord asked me, “Do you trust me?” I held that paper in my hand till I had a yes in my heart. Yeah Lord, I trust you. He told me to open my paper and I saw this list which had Mads, Suz, Paxt, Kait, Lynds, and myself on there.
I started to wonder why? I wasn’t angry with my new team. Quite the opposite actually. I was content, but what does the Lord want me to learn?
I started questioning, because I knew that I actually had really great relationships with women, past and present. I’m not uncomfortable with women and I know that growth comes from being uncomfortable. So, how am I going to grow?
Then the Lord showed me that I thrive from being around women, because of how I was raised. I grew up being taught that women are powerful. That they are strong. My family has a lot of mottos that we like to live by. My dad’s side of the family has this one quote that I just love.
“Here’s to strong women. May we know them. May we be them. May we raise them.”
The Lord wants me to show others what it’s like to be surrounded by loving, strong, Christian women. Not everyone has the best relationships when it comes to females.
But from my experience, women are a force to be reckoned with. The are giving, relational, powerful, intentional, intellectual.. the list goes on. The Lord created us to be different. There are GOOD things come from female relationships.
Women freaking rock.
I am proud to be one.
I wanted to take this time to give a shout out to the women in my life that taught me that I can do anything. That radiate Christ’s love. That constantly build me up and empower me to be who the Lord created me to be. That taught me good female bonds can be the sweetest things in life.
Melanie Wilder, Allison Gresham, Austyn Dukes, Marian Wilder (Honey), Melody Wilson, Joy Wilder Lybeer, Hope Morgan, Tia Shelnutt, Ella Senator, Becca Moore, Grace Starnes, Evanda Estes, Drew Phillips, Grace Morgan, Margaret Wilson, Kathy Morris, Christy Staubach.
Honestly, I have so many more that have influenced my walk with the Lord and many more that have taught me that I can do anything I put my mind to.
My main aim for this blog post was to empower the women in my life. To scream THANK YOU for raising me the way you did. To really appreciate the friendships that I have. So maybe, just maybe others will start to realize that GOOD female relationships exist. That we have a huge impact on people and the world around us.
I have a challenge for you guys.. are you ready? Think about women who have impacted your life for the better and tell them. Tell them you are thankful for them and to continue to spread light. That they are warriors in the Lord’s kingdom. And that you appreciate them.
In my experience, love and encouragement goes a long way.
love you lots,
Kat.
