Hi guys! I’m making this blog post to kind of sum up all the details on my trip! Right now, I’m in the process of creating my fundraising letter, brainstorming fundraising ideas, and gathering a list of supporters! So, if you don’t know, I’m going to be gone for 9 months ministering in the countries of Nepal, India, Lesotho, Swaziland, and Nicaragua. I found out a few weeks ago that my official launch date is going to be September 7th/8th, 2017 from Atlanta, GA! Also, before my launch date, I will attend a training camp from July 6th-16th, 2017! At this training camp, we will get to know members of our route, be able to do a 3 mile hike in 50 minutes, and kind of get a “test run” of what the World Race will look like. This all seems like a long time from now, but I know it’s going to fly by!
I am given a few deadlines up to my trip, but they’re all very doable! What I really love about Adventures in Missions is that my final deadline for my total cost isn’t due till 12/29/17, which is while I’m on my trip! I find that to be super generous. However, my first deadline is $5,000 on 6/15/17, which is also something I can definitely tackle! I’m not going to be attending school in the spring semester because, I’m not sure if you know, fundraising can sometimes feel like a part-time job! On top of building my support team, I’m going to be spending most of my time working at Graeter’s Ice Cream. I hope to use these earnings to pay for my travel, supplies, and anything extra I need help in. A lot of prayer goes into the preparation of this trip, but I truly believe that God does provide for us. Even if you think it’s impossible, if you continue to do God’s works and grow in your relationship with Him, He will provide for you.
Many people ask me questions like, “So what are you exactly doing on the trip?” or “In what ways are you ministering?” My answers to these are simply that I’m not totally sure! We aren’t really given details on what we do on a daily basis because they aren’t really planned yet. We are told these things kind of on-the-go, based on what things need to be attended in the location. It could be things like teaching children, hosting a VBS, or physical labor like painting, construction, etc. Although I don’t know the details, your support is not going to a lost cause. I am going to be ministering to the best of my ability on this trip. It will be difficult and frustrating at times, but I am dedicated to spread His word and to be a light for Him. Along with the financial and physical preparation for this trip, I am preparing my ability to minister to others and to be a strong witness for God. I’m changing my life from a life with God to a life within God. He has called me to be a witness for Him, and that is why I’m asking for supporters. Seeing people full of God’s love is one of the coolest things to be a part of, and I’m so grateful that this gets to be my main focus for almost a year. In God’s work, we are either givers, financially or through prayer, or doers, whether it be across the street or across the world, and I believe it is a huge part of our relationship with God to fulfill His callings in all of our hearts.
After my Fall semester ends, I will soon be in contact with many people that I would love to be a part of my support team. I’m going to send my fundraising letters out, but as well, I want to meet one-on-one with all of you, and share my story and how I feel lead to do this ministry. If you have any questions for me, call, message, or email me! All my contact information is listed in the “Contact” tab at the top of my blog, and I’d be happy to talk! Thank you so much for taking the time to read this! I’m so thankful for the generous support that I’ve already been given by friends and family!
