I’m in Honduras now!!! We’ve been here for the past month and it’s been super challenging, but beautiful at the same time. We live on a mountain at the school we teach English at just outside the capital Tegucigalpa. And on this mountain there’s this family that lives right by the school and they have been taking care of us. Roxanna. Lord jesus thank you for this woman and her beautiful family.
“Kate!” “Kate!”
Every day, I hear my little Honduran baby, Aaron, yelling my name. I love this lil guy so much. He didn’t like me the first couple of weeks though. Every time I would go near him or try to talk to him, he looked like a deer in headlights. Then he slowly, but surely started to let me play with him. It was usually throwing rocks off the cliff or pushing him on the tire swing. The we left for four days to spend thanksgiving at one of the Atlantic beaches in Honduras that was 7 hours away. Which was amazing btw, we made tons of food and had a great time in the Caribbean!!! The only bad part was that we got hundreds of sand flea bites, but it was still worth it.
Anyways, when we came back from our little adventure, Aaron started yelling my name and following me. I guess I needed to go away for a little while for him to appreciate my presence. No, but really this lil baby is my best friend now. We play in the dirt for hours and throw rocks still and eat chocolate cake together. He’s my breath of fresh air. He helps remind me of my nieces and nephew at home and they make everything a lot simpler. Jonathan and Valery, his older siblings are just as amazing and fun to hang out with. Valery taught me how to make empanadas the other night and I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed it. My empanadas looked like a truck ran over them compared to hers, but it was still a lot of fun. I don’t think I would love Honduras as much as I do without this family.
Thank you Jesus for this life!!!
