It’s been an interesting journey learning how to teach English here. Every morning, I get nervous that something won’t work out or the kids won’t listen or understand, but the Holy Spirit always goes before us. He never fails to provide or guide us while we teach. These kids have melted my heart and I don’t even want to think about having to leave them in a few weeks.
Thank you Jesus for Tennessee Applegate. I wouldn’t have been able to do this on my own. She’s on my team and we’ve been teaching 2 classes in the morning and I’m so thankful we’re able to do this together. Some days are hard, but our spiritual gifts play really well off of each other and God has given us so many great opportunities to be the hands and feet of Jesus in this Buddhist school.
This is Fillip, my favorite little guy in our kindergarten class. He loves to scream out the answers and demands high fives every morning when we walk through the door and I love it so much.
This is Keng, he’s in our older class and he’s a little like Fillip. They both like to shout out the answer as loud as possible above everyone else. These two kids and all of the other kids in our classes never fail to make us laugh and I’m so grateful.
Through debrief, limited access to social media and other distractions and influences and living in community with my squad, I’ve been able to fully focus and enjoy being in the presence of the Lord. His voice is loud and clear, just like my students, Fillip and Keng. He tells me to, “Rise, and have no fear,” and that I am, “His beloved” and “He is well pleased with me.”
I’m so thankful for every day and moment here in Cambodia and I can’t wait to see what God’s going to do in these next few weeks.
