Over the last month we’ve had the chance to get to know some of the kiddos in our neighborhood. They come hangout in our backyard after school, we eat lemons, drink appletizers, and go on field trips to the grocery store + public pool!!!!!
Meet Nike- Nike is 4 years old, loves all things purple & princess Sophia, she wants to be a doctor one day. She says she loves pizza, Justin Bieber, and just like most 4 year olds, her favorite word is ‘no’. Nike and I like to skip around the neighborhood singing ‘skippity do da’, Nike wants to tell everyone in America “hello”.
Meet Susanne- Susanne is just 8 years old, but already knows she wants to be a teacher. She’s a big fan of the color pink, Barbie, and Chris Brown. Her favorite thing to do at school is to read, and she of course loves pizza as well. Susanne says “hello how are you” to everyone in America!!
Meet Olivia- Olivia is a sassy 16 year old who often uses the words “lame” and “disgusting”. She doesn’t open up easily, but its been really sweet to hear more and more of her story each day. Olivia wants to be a lawyer one day, and I have no doubt that it will be the perfect job for her.
Meet Kaylie- My next store neighbor, and my first friend in Heidelberg! Kaylie is 8 years old, and loves the Kardashians, we sit in our backyard and talk all about Hollywood drama after school. She wants to be a nurse one day, likes to study english, and play netball.
Meet Boushle- We met Boushle on thee street one day and we now call her Boushkee Boushkee, because it’s more fun to say. She’s 3 years old, and most times when she’s at our house she’s moody because she misses her mom, so all we know is her favorite color is purple.
Meet Jared- Jared is a trooper, being the only boy amongst all the girls most days. Hes 12 years old, wants to be a mechanic one day, loves learning English in school, and wishes he could eat spaghetti for each meal. Jared can often be found in the grocery store shopping for his granny.
Meet Mymuna- Mymuna is by far the sassiest 7 year old in all of Heidelberg. She was one of the first girls I met, and never fails to make us laugh. Her favorite color is blue, but sometimes she likes purples more. She loves Cinderella & Jesus. Mymuna wants to be a nice police officer when she grows up.
Its been more than a privilege to spend time with these kiddos, we get to play and have fun, but we also have the opportunity to speak life into them and show them the love of Jesus. These will be the hardest goodbyes yet.
