I wanted to give you all a look at what ministry looks like her in Botswana.
We are living in Kumakwane, a village about 30 minutes outside of the city. For our time in Botswana we have partnered with out hosts, Jeff and April. They have recently opened up a café and we have the opportunity to hosts events throughout the week to reach the people in this community.
Jeff and April have created an aquaponics system to support their garden. They grow all of the produce for their café, as well as sell it for a very reasonable price to families in the community. I have found tons of joy in gardening in the morning, and having the chance to work in the greenhouse. This past week I have spent ours transplanting hundreds of pieces of lettuce, and pulling out the tomato plants that I planted and killed.
Some of my teammates have been in the kitchen helping April make baked goods to sell at the café. April has also asked for help making seat cushions for the patio chairs, which has kept us busy.
The new café is about a 20 minute walk from our house, and we help Jeff on weekdays anywhere from 6am-7pm. They sell very cheap Bibles, and open tables up to the public for them to come and read the books if they cannot afford them. Working in the café has been challenging, but its been crazy cool to see people come in and be excited about the books and have opportunity to be encouraged.
Our main focus for these 2 months have been our weekly events. We have been having Worship Nights, a youth Bible Study, and Saturday night movie night. Being able to see the same kids come each week and be excited for learn more and more about the Lord has been so encouraging.
While we have a lot of ministry to do, the way we do it is not structured. We are given each day with the freedom to make out own schedule and use our time wisely. Finding free time in my afternoons and playing with my neighbor kids has been a highlight in my time her for sure.
I ask that you continue to pray for our time in Botswana, pray for our hosts Jeff and April, and pray over our events that we have each week. Its out desire to see more and more people come to know the Lord, and we have so many opportunities to further the Kingdom.
