Today Paige and I walked and talked throughout the community. Paige knows just about zero Spanish, and I can recall how to say “what is your name” and “can we pray for you” in a crappy accent. With a free afternoon to play with kids at the park, Paige and I decided to walk through the streets and see if there was anyone we felt called to pray for. Although intercessory prayer has been heavy on my heart for years, actually walking up to strangers and offering to pray for them and their families was a little outside of my comfort zone. But man, the Lord provides all things, including the boldness and confidence needed. Paige and I spent the next hour talking with about 6 families, sitting on their porch, and playing charades hoping they will understand the good news we are trying to bring. People opened their homes to us, offered us a place to sit, and held our hands as we prayed over them in a language they did not understand.

This afternoon itself was nothing incredible, asking people if we can pray for them is not worth any praise. But what is praise worthy is that the God of this universe, the God of Snoqualmie Washington, cares so much about this tiny community in the mountains of the Dominican that he would send 2 English speaking girls to share His hope. I am humbled daily that he would pick me. ME of all people.

I have started having doubts this month if the World Race is actually worth it. Ministry has been slow, and has been looking nothing like I expected it to. The doubts have creeped in that maybe the Lord would have more in store for me back home. My walk with Paige reminded me that these thoughts are not of the Lord, and have no place in my life. I am confident that the Lord is working here in Lajas. I am confident that if I simply act out in faith to plant a seed He will bring the water to allow each seed to grow. The Lord is oh so good and He works in every little moment.

I ask this week for prayers after Hurricane Maria hit, I ask that you pray for peace and protection over the Dominican. We have about a week left here in the DR, and my monthly newsletter is on its way, send me your email address if you would like to receive the updates!!

Love you all,

Kara
