WONDER
Have you ever seen the wonder
In the glimmer of first sight
As the eyes begin to open
And the blindness meets the light
If you have so say
Every time I hear the word wonder this is what I sing to myself.
Have you ever seen the WONDER?
This past week we watched the movie Wonder. (if you have not seen it you really should)
We were preparing a discussion for the next day at prison ministry. We went to the prison and we had the opportunity to talk to some of the women who came for english club.
What we did was talk about some of the quotes from the movie and the one that stuck out to me was…..
Your deeds make your moments.
Think about this for a second
This is saying that everything that you do is what people will remember you as.
Do you think this is true?
This was a hard question to answer just for me in my everyday life. But now think we were having this conversation in a women’s prison.
You see, these women could be in here from anywhere for 14 months to 14 years or even more.
When they leave after they serve their time what are they going to be remembered by??
So this was very hard for me to think about. First of all, yes they did mess up but why should that be what they are remembered for. Just because they lived out bad deeds before jail. But what if they totally change in jail and now they can restart their life for the Lord.
As all of this was going through my head I did not know how this could be true. So at the end we were able to share what we thought about any of the quotes and I had something to say!!
Yes a monument is something that is very visible and huge and people can see. But that does not mean that that monument can not be torn down. Many monuments in history have been torn down and are rebuilt even better.
This is what I shared. I just felt that these women need to know that there deeds in the past does not define who they are forever. That they can tare down that old monument and rebuild a new one.
And with a new one it will be shiny and bright and it will catch people’s eyes. Now if your new monument was built by the Lord then you now have the opportunity to to open blind eyes to be able to see him. And if you see one of these monuments you are going to tell others and say LOOK OVER THERE AT THAT BEAUTIFUL MONUMENT.
Have you ever seen the wonder
In the glimmer of first sight
As the eyes begin to open
And the blindness meets the light
If you have so say
WONDER
Is this how you live your life?? Are you living in so much shame that all you can see is your old monument. I challenge you to tare down that monument and start building up the new one. The one that is shiny, bright, catches people attention and brings people to the Lord. BRING THE WONDER!! IT WILL BE AMAZING!!
Love
Julia
