This month we are on an island that we are just doing life as ministry.
What this means is that my team and I are walking through life while stoping and talking to store owners, restaurant owners, and just people on the side of the street. We have been working on building relationships and just sharing the reason that we are on the island!! That is to share that Jesus loves them so much and is chasing after them.
So I am going to share a story with you!!
It all started with a night that we went to a restaurant that had milkshakes for our team time.
There was a girl that was our waitress and I just felt I needed to talk to her. So as we were leaving I just stoped by and asked what here name was.
Now let me tell you this small question lit a spark that would start a relationship.
So the next day I felt that I needed to go and talk to her so I walked my way down to her families restaurant with one of my teammates, Rachel. The first time we passed she was not there and I was a little disappointed because I really was hopping to talk with her. So we continued to walk by and when we reached the end of the path we started our walk back.
But to much of my surprise my friend was there when we got back! So we stoped and I got an ice coffee!! We chatted for a little while just learning more about her and just starting to share why we were there.
These interactions happened every day for the following five days. I would go and get an ice coffee and we would just chat about her classes, her family, she would ask questions about what I am doing here, where and what I studied in school and much more.
But I knew that this forming of a relationship was going to have to happen fast because she was leaving for the mainland on Wednesday to take her exams and would not be returning until after we leave the island.
So the day before she left I went again and chatted. I asked her what time she would be leaving in the morning because I would like to say goodbye before she left.
The next morning I went to the restaurant with two of my other teammates Rachel and Chelsea and we got coffee. We arrived at a perfect time because it was right before my new friend was leaving. As she was saying goodbye to her family sharing there hands she came right to our table and said, “goodbye Julia”.
This was a huge deal for me because I knew hat I had taken the time to come and get to know her but I did not know if it was really “paying off”. But again with just two simple words my mind was blown.
At this time I also gave her a letter that I had wrote to her just explaining that I really enjoyed getter to know her and also that I can see the Lord’s joy shining through her. You see my new friend is a Muslim so this I am guessing was a big shock but I am praying for big thing to come from my new friend.
I know that the Lord has big plans for her and I hope to see those come true!!!

As for now all I can do is pray that the seeds that I started to plant will continue to be cared for and watered and eventually grow so much that they will have to be harvested!
I would love for you to join me in this prayer and also for every other person that we are meeting with and talking to this month!!
Talk to You Soon
Julia
