Hello everyone!
My name is Josephine Rene Dehlin, but I mostly go by Josie. I am 17, a senior in high school, and live in Berryville Virginia with my mom and my little sister. Senior year involves lots of big decisions, like where I want to go to college and what I want to be, but as I have started to go through the process, there has been a pressing feeling that there is something I must do before I continue on with my education. After a lot of prayer and study I have come to the realization that I need to go on a mission!
I love traveling and meeting new people. There is nothing that sounds more exciting to me than experiencing new places and cultures, and that is part of the reason why I am so happy for this wonderful opportunity! I grew up in the country, so I love being outdoors and doing activities like hiking or swimming. I love drawing and doing anything that has to with art. I have lived in three places in my life, Oregon, Florida, and Northern Virginia. My dream is to become a nurse and join Doctors without Borders, which was why I felt hugely drawn to a mission.
Going on a mission is something that I feel like God needs me to do. Traveling for a year with only what I can carry on my back, and living in real, authentic communities that desperately need the gospel is something that I know will strengthen my testimony and reinforce my love and faith in Jesus Christ. I am so excited to be traveling with a squad of people who have strong testimonies and desires to help people by following Christ’s example through the acts of love and service. The World Race is is something that is close to my heart already, and I can’t wait for the beginning of such a wonderful adventure!
I am going to be blogging throughout my fundraising process, and even more so when I actually launch in September of 2017. I invite everyone who is reading this to stay tuned, to pray for me as I begin this endeavor, to donate if you feel inspired, and to contact me if you have any questions or would like more information (heartfelt advice is also welcome). This is not the first chapter of my life, but it is definitely the next big chapter!
Yours in Christ,
Josie Dehlin
