Mental note: When I want to get married I just have to pull out a big bowl of al dente pasta with homemade cheese sauce, the smell of garlicky chicken and mushrooms with a side of brightly steamed broccoli and toasted garlic bread followed by a sweet treat of no bakes cookies. Apparently here in El Salvador when you are considered a good cook you are ready to marry, or in Spanish: Tú estás un buen cocinar. Se puede casar! This was the response we got from one of our minister brothers, Alex, while eating the dinner we prepared for the family. I was not expecting to get that as a compliment. lol
This family dinner was just what I needed. I needed a night to forget about all the commotion going on in my noggin and just enjoy the people God has surrounded me with. Improvising recipes and finding substitutions to make an american meal was a fun challenge; it may have resorted to opening a can with a knife but it came together and was delicious. I forgot about all the stuff dwelling in my mind during the day as we laughed until we we got belly aches (from laughing, not the food ;P) and teared up.
A cheerful heart is good medicine…

Weekly challenge: Cook a meal with a loved one and share it over good conversation 🙂
El Salvador fact: My name sounds a lot like the El Salvadorian word for sandals- Gina. I may have mistaken hearing my name a few times already…
