The sermon series we are going through at church currently is just another way God is prepping me for this journey. It is focusing on the scripture:
Hebrews 12:1
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.
We have throw off the extra weight that is slowing us down; the sin, baggage, worries and fears in our life hinder us from running the race God has called us on. As I am purging, packing, cleaning and saying goodbye I also need to strip away everything that will hinder my experience and opportunities presented.
Just like Elisha (1 Kings 19), I need to fully commit to God’s plan, plan A, and devote my life completely to His calling. I don’t want to have a safety net or a back-up plan. Elisha left his whole livelihood of farming, burnt his oxen and plow and became a servant for God. He didn’t know all the details and did not know the end goal.
I have been asked about the details of the trip, exactly when will you be here? What exactly will you be doing? Where will you be staying? All the details are not known, I do not know what to expect on a day to day basis, things could change and we may have to be re-rerouted…Yes, it is taking lots of trust in God to be ok with the unknown however, I think I would be overwhelmed if I knew all the details of the trip and it takes the reliance off of God. If we all knew the end goal we may try and get there ourselves and miss out on what God wants us to experience.
