Welcome to Feministry. You may have heard the term “Manistry” floating around this month. It’s a common misconception. This month is Ladies Month. They have quarantined the men at a Church in Lima, Peru and blessed the women with one of God’s greatest gifts… each other.

If you’ve been keeping up, you know that out of 38 women, I am one of only 3 single girls that has been entirely on co-ed teams! This month, the girls from my team, typically a co-ed team called Gospel Juice, are living with the girls from another co-ed team, Ahava; Grace, India, and Katie. This month has been like a Girls’ Night Out (or in) every night. I truly love and cherish the lifelong friendships I’ve formed with our men, but I’ve been counting down to Feministry like it’s Christmas Day.

Yes, we’ve painted our nails and watched sappy movies with our host and her 9 year old daughter, but more than that we’ve trusted and loved each other. We’ve talked about heartbreak and grief, hope and opportunities, dreams and setbacks. We have shared how tremendously our views on friendship and love have changed in these past 9 months. We have built walls and sanded doors and painted rooms. We pray for each other and celebrate each other’s praise reports. No, we haven’t run out of things to talk about and we continue to encourage each others’ growth. We laugh until we’re snorting and gasping for breath.

These girls and our host, Holly, are amazing and are the embodiment of godly women. I love our men, but I’m not ready for this month to end! This is loving community as it was intended to be.

“But Ruth said, “Do not urge me to leave you or to return from following you. For where you go I will go, and where you lodge I will lodge. Your people shall be my people, and your God my God.” –Ruth1:16
