In all honesty, sometimes the World Race looks a whole lot different than the Instagram photos or beautiful Facebook posts.  Sometimes your month looks like this:

-realizing that your married apartment looks like having 3 men sleep in your living room on the floor

-one of your squad mates waking up with the chickenpox the first week here

-the squad leader that’s been with you all week letting you know she’s got strep

-5 of us all getting some tummy troubles; it could be a virus or something we’ve consumed

-realizing that the new lady at the after school center is a nurse finding head lice in the kids who’ve been climbing all over you

-then you get home and realize another team has lice, too!

-cooking dinner for 45 people on 2 dual cooktops

-not being able to catch the first 4 buses on an adventure day and having to take an 1.5 hour taxi ride

But, it’s all a beautiful mess that we wouldn’t have changed!  Because when we choose to look at it all as a blessing, the month looks like:

-having sleepovers with 3 brothers that you’ve been able to share late-night snacks and giggles with

-being able to take care of a contagious brother and the Lord protecting the rest of us!

-serving a beautiful example of what a Godly woman looks like, and loving her through her sickness and yet again, God protecting the rest of us

-allowing others to serve you while you’re sick in bed and being able to see the love of Jesus through them as they step up and care and comfort their family

-having the opportunity to love on precious children who want nothing more than attention and feeling wanted

-watching the beautiful conversations and relationships grow through the hours of tedious de-licing, clothes and comforter washing, and embracing the life of dirty-hair without judgement

-being super blessed with 2 grocery stores within a 2 minute walk for us to get creative recipes flowing and have a great time singing and cooking in a small kitchen with 5-6 of your best friends preparing for a nightly dinner party!

-being part of an awesome day full of laughter and light with some sweet sisters that we probably wouldn’t have had time with outside of that day.

God has been so good to us this month here in Romania during all-squad month.  It has had its challenges, but He is faithful through it all and has provided us so many blessings.  We each have a choice on how we choose to look at situations, and when we choose to find the good, to find Him, in each of them, it sure does make the story a whole lot sweeter.

We head to Sofia, Bulgaria on Sunday for a short debrief before we get to our ministry location of Dobromirka midweek.  We will be working at another camp, and we will actually be partnered up with another team for the month.  We know that God has something big planned if He’s sending us back to another camp, and we are eager to see what He has in store.
