We’re sorry that this has taken us 3 weeks to post this blog, but here’s a glimpse at our first travel days/daze from the US to our first ministry site in Serbia!
Monday, August 7, 2017
1:15 am EST: Atlanta, GA – Wake up
2:05 am EST: meet the squad downstairs to start shuttling to the airport
3:30 am EST: arrive at Hartsfield-Atlanta airport, wait for counter to open, get tickets and check large hiking packs, cry that the McDonalds in Terminal A doesn’t have sausage burritos this morning, and board first flight
7:45 am EST: take off from Atlanta and head to Miami, FL
Welcome to Miami!
Because we’re switching airlines, all 43 of us collect bags from baggage, take over a corner of the airport, eat some lunch, and recheck in and drop off bags
4:45 pm EST: depart from Miami headed to Lisbon, Portugal on an 8-hour flight
(NOTE: Lisbon is 5 hours ahead of EST)

5:45 am Lisbon time: arrive in Portugal with a 5-hour layover where we don’t have to grab our bags (praises for the small things!)
10:35 am Lisbon time: depart Lisbon for Budapest, Hungary on a 3-hour flight
(NOTE: Budapest is 6 hours ahead of EST)
2:35 pm Budapest time: arrive from the last flight of this leg in Budapest
Wait on bus to take us from Budapest to Novi Sad, Serbia
5:35 pm Budapest time: Ride a super nice, fancy, and private bus
7:55 pm Budapest time: Border crossing between Hungary and Serbia
10:00 pm Serbian time: Arrive in Novi Sad where we stayed the night at the church where one of our team’s is serving for the month.

10:30 am Serbian time: 3 teams that are going to different areas of Serbia all catch a public bus to the Novi Sad Main City Center bus station
12:25 pm Serbian time: Our team takes one final bus from Novi Sad to Cacak, Serbia
4:45 pm Serbian time: We arrive at Cacak and are greeted by our amazing ministry hosts!
We finished the evening with dinner at a fantastic restaurant, Pecmopah Kanumepo, amazing ice cream from Galija and then got to our home for the next 3ish weeks, Kamp Mrcajevci around 8 pm.
