This is it, probably my last blog post here. The World Race is officially over for me. I’m back in the States. It is over just as fast as it seemed to start. I was talking with some of my squadmates and we mutually have agreed it hasn’t felt like we’d been gone for 11 months. It’s been an amazing blessing to experience so many different cultures and to see how God is working in other places. It’s also a blessing to say I’ve grown in my faith and trust in the Heavenly Father
But, for the real reason I started writing this blog. From just the day I have spent in San Fransisco I have been surprised by things I had forgotten about the American culture.
(P.S.A. Most of these are goofy and things I missed)
- Breakfast Burritos: had one at the hotel today. I only have two words to describe this: GAME CHANGER
- Unlimited refills, oh how I have missed you
- Taxes not being in the advertised price, this through me for a loop when I paid cash for something the first time
- English signs everywhere: being able to understand where things are at an airport was amazing
- Being able to understand the conversations around me
- Using a second plate to get more food at a buffet. Like why dirty another dish?
- No one honking their car horns while driving
This is just some small observances and goofy things I noticed. Again, it has been a true blessing to be apart of a group, of common believers committed to the same thing, and it wasn’t possible without everyone support. Thank you to all who have been praying, giving, and supporting me. You have shown me so much just by your support.
Blessings,
Jacob
