I accidentally forgot to have a blog post last month. I have good news though; I have reached my first fundraising goal of $5,000! I currently need to $4,700 to reach my second goal of $10,000 on July 21st to get to the mission field. To all those that have donated, thank you. It has truly humbled me to see all the support.
As I have been planning and fundraising for this amazing opportunity something has riddled me, fear of the unknown. This is not something that I normally have a problem with as I am a contingency planner. I always plan ahead and have 3-4 backup plans. But, I do not have any backup plans now. I have taken my leave of absence from school and do not have a job planned for after the summer. So I am putting all my faith and trust that God will provide the necessary funds to get me to the mission field.
What has helped me understand this fear is God has put this mission trip on my heart and has called me to this. In Jeremiah 29:11 it says, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Just as this verse is a hopeful reminder to the Jews that they will not be forgotten in their exile and fear, it also is a hopeful verse that God is there in our fear and not forgetting us. In my fear of not knowing how the rest of my funds will come in or meeting the fundraising deadlines I know there is a plan. So I’ll be here doing what I can and waiting and trusting to see the plan come about. I know whatever it is I’ll be ready to share the love of Christ no matter what.
