The Christmas season, my favorite time of year. I am normally one of those people who can’t and won’t listen to Christmas music until the day after Christmas. But, that was not the case this year. I actually started to listen right after Halloween, I know I’m turning into a whole different person. This is probably because I’m so excited to think about what this season represents, the birth of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Truly something to rejoice about and celebrate.
This time of year though we all tend to get caught up in decorations, food, and presents. I know for me you always want that “perfect” holiday season, but also end up being disappointed. It has taken me a long time to realize there is no perfect holiday wrapped up in decorations, food, and presents, but is already perfected in the birth of Christ. That during this season we are experiencing the Love, Hope, Joy, and Peace in the life of Christ. This time of year we tend to forget about these four virtues and focus on the materialistic things. But, when we focus on these virtues we find our true “Christmas Spirit.”
I’m constantly reminded that through the birth of Christ we have been shown a great love. In the renewing and rejoicing spirit of the Christmas season, I find myself more excited in the last few days. I’m more excited that I have experienced this love and have been called to share it with the world. As I am preparing for this adventure to the 10/40 window I can’t help, but think of the differences this one birth of our Lord and Savior has done to change the world. Let’s be in prayer together that the Birth of Christ can continue to reflect Love, Hope, Joy, and Peace in our lives and to the world.
Please be in prayer for this missions trip and all who are going to partake in it so that we can be spiritually ready and be encouraged during the difficulties of fundraising.
