Week two in Malaysia has been very busy but great! This week in the toddler class the students and teachers have been working hard preparing for their end of the year celebration that took place this morning.  The students did such a good job! It was chaotic but absolutely adorable.  The kids had fun and the parents enjoyed it.  At the end of the day that is all that matters.  This month God is teaching me and reminding me how to see the world through the eyes of a child and with faith like a child.  They question, they wonder, and are just in awe of things that adults forget how to be awe of.  I challenge you to look at things through the eyes of a child.  It will change your perspective and you just might find some extra joy you didn’t know you had. This is a snapshot of the amazing things I get to be apart of on a daily basis here at Dignity School.  I hope you enjoy the pictures! Please note all pictures must be taken from far away or faces must be blocked to protect the identity of the children.

And they were bringing children to him that he might touch them, and the disciples rebuked them. But when Jesus saw it, he was indignant and said to them, “Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.” And he took them in his arms and blessed them, laying his hands on them.

-Mark 10:13-16

The students practiced dances and dramas everyday to prepare for their performance today. It’s really amazing what the fantastic teachers have taught these 2,3, and 4 year olds to do.

This is our classroom.  All the furniture was custom designed to fit the height of the children. A local insurance agency donated all the furnishings in the classroom.

The students are rehearsing a song from “Try Everything”, a song from the movie Zootopia.  This song perfectly describes the atmopshere that is created by the school.  Students are encouraged to try everything and even make mistakes to learn from them.  The song lyrics say “try everything even if I may fail”.  It also talks about them learning to get back up again after they fall.

Playtime is serious business!

The students participated in making props for their performances.  They are making flowers to hold while they sing “You are my sunshine”.

Dignity teaches independence from an early age.  These students are scooping their own rice after they had gone to the cabinet and got their own cups, utensils, and poured their own drink. They also assist in cleaning the classroom as their is no janitor on staff.  In the older grades cleaning is the sole responsibility of the students, including bathrooms.

The older students volunteer in the classroom towards the end of the school year (November/December).  They were a huge help in preparing for the end of the year celebration making props and helping the toddlers rehearse.

I am loving my month in Malaysia! Working in a school feels like home! A few updates! We have another route change! In April we will be heading to Zimbabwe instead of Namibia. Also be in prayer for all the racers on my squad who are still fundraising.  The final deadline is Nov. 30th for all funds.  If you feel led to give my teammates would greatly appreciate your help.  I have attached their blog links below.
