This blog has been way over due! Sorry for not posting as much but I have made it safely in Bolivia and have been at ministry for a little over a week now. We have gotten to do some pretty cool things and this month we are partnered with YWAM (Youth With A Mission). Our ministry this month is pretty scattered we’ve worked in a special needs orphanage for a day and then spent time at a youth girls home. Im excited for the rest of our time here in Bolivia.

So all of you already know my momma came to Rwanda for PVT!! It was seriously the best week ever! I was so happy to see her after seven long months. We loved doing ministry together and  had so much fun exploring Kigali. She has been back in the states for about a bit but I before she left I asked her to write about her time on the field so here’s an overview of our time together!

Wow,

I was blessed to get an email from Heather saying “Hey momma come to Rwanda and do ministry with me”. My wonderful husband provided the funds for me to go to Rwanda to see Heather. Leading up to the trip there were so many mixed emotions, I was beyond excited to see Heather but also really nervous about all of my travels. I immediately got all of my shots, book my flight and went shopping for things I would need.

Well February 14th was finally here and it was time to go, my husband dropped me at the airport and I met up with a fellow mom and we headed off to Kigali. After 11 hours a 3 hours layover and another 6.5 hour flight we finally touchdown in the beautiful country of Rwanda. After some rest I decided to walk the streets of Kigali to explore on my walk I found so many wonderful people willing to talk about there country.

Sunday arrived and it was time to finally see my Stinky (Heather) who I have not seen in 7 long months. We headed back to the airport where we met up with the other parents to make our trip to the Guesthouse. We loaded up and we were off to see the team. As we were traveling down the dirt roads there was a ton of traffic and people were staring at the four buses full of white people.

As we pulled into the guest house I finally saw Heather, she was screaming and so excited to see me. I was equally excited to see her and couldn’t wait to jump off the bus and give her a huge hug. It was such an amazing moment seeing her again and getting to wrap my arms around her neck.

We visited and talked for a little bit then headed off to bed since we would be waking up early the next morning. The next day Pastor Moise’s announced that we were going to visit the Genocide Museum to learn a little bit more about what happen in Rwanda in the 90’s. This museum was so eye opening and very heart breaking. I would have never imagine that people would have turned on each other and killed one another.

The next day we were told to be up early again that we would be starting ministry today. Pastor Moise’s took us to his house and his village to work on the roads and to  help in the school teaching and playing with the children. The people in the village were the sweetest and the most kind people that I have ever met and the children are so lovable, all they wanted high fives and a hugs.

Later that day Heather took me to the market where I could get shirts and souvenirs for the family. I can not begin to describe how overwhelmed I felt it was crazy there were so many people wanting to help and wanting you to buy their stuff, however we made friends with two guys Pacific and Erie, they took great care of us.

On Thursday evening we headed to Pastor Moise’s church to experience a real Rwandan worship service. This was one of my favorite moments of the trip. We walked up to the church and the church members were greeting us with open arms ready for hugs. You could hear the worship music playing and it was amazing. We took our seats and I was so surprised at all the singing and dancing, I joined along and had a great time worshiping.

Friday we spent the day in the village helping with roads and playing with children again, when it was time to go Heather’s team got to stay back and have a yummy lunch with Pastor Mosie’s and his family. This was a great time to hang out with the other parents and seeing where the girls spent the last two week.

I have to say all in all it was such an incredible time. I will never forget, the incredible people that I got to meet and the wonderful children that I got to love on. It was so great to be able to see my daughter after 7 months. I was so grateful that we got to work along side each other serving the people of Rwanda. Most of the race I’ve been curious what it was like to be in her shoes and this past week I found out and it was truly amazing.

I will be forever grateful that she asked me to come to Rwanda and that God has blessed our family so much to provide the means for me to be able to come. PEACE
