Alright, so one thing on my bucket list is to watch the sunrise and sunset in each country, this isn’t too hard of a task to knock out in each country considering, since I have been on the race I do not sleep past 6:30AM and the sunset is usually around 6:00PM. Also I really just enjoy just sitting and taking in what God has created.
Don’t get me wrong it is not necessary easy waking up at 5:30 for the sunrise but it is completely worth the breath taking views, I especially love the stillness there is right before the sun peaks over the horizon. Most evenings I ask my team if there is anyone who wants me to wake them up to watch the sunrise with me, mostly the response is no but every once in a while someone will say yes, (which makes me super happy). It just so happens that every time one of my teammates responds with yes, the sunrise is a little less than amazing which is very disappointing.
So while we were in India I asked the girls if anyone wanted to watch the sunrise with me, Lindsay said “Sure wake me up and I’ll watch it with you”, so we go to bed and my alarm sounds promptly at 5:30, with sleepy eyes and a less than graceful zombie walk we make our way on to the roof, we sit down play some worship music and wait! So about 15 ish minutes go by and the whole sky is completely covered with thick, white puffy clouds, this made it impossible to see the sunrise. Naturally I was bummed, it being the first sunrise that someone wanted to wake up with me but we counted our losses and went inside to nap before ministry that day.
That very same night I proceed to ask with high hopes “Does anyone want me to wake them up for sunrise in the morning?” (Why not give it another try) so low and behold Juliana and Caleigh both said “Sure”. Again set my alarm, woke up same posture, head to the roof, and of course, thick puffy clouds were all over the sky. Another day with no awesome sunrise. I was completely confused because every time I wake up alone the sunrises are beautiful and when I convince others it somehow doesn’t work out.
Fast forward to about 2 weeks later, were in Nepal and I’ve watched the sunrise once by myself and it was great so naturally I ask my team, “Hey does anyone want me to wake them up for sunrise” and Juliana said “Sure come to my room at 5:30 and I’ll get up”. So I go to my room set my alarm for 4:15 (not sure if I thought that 4 was a 5 but apparently I was confused) so my 4:15 alarm wakes me up and I go get Juliana and we start heading upstairs and she says “Heather why is it so dark outside” I reply “Juju it’s 4:30 the sun hasn’t risen yet” she then says “Why in the heck did you wake me up an hour before the sunrise”? I was completely confused but then quickly realized my alarm was set for 4:15 not 5:15 and we had an hour to kill before sunrise. Obviously I was already committed to this sunrise so I decided to stay awake, Juliana on the other hand didn’t feel to well so she went back to bed. Another sunrise fail, well kind of fail, the sunrise was still beautiful.
Although my sunrise fails keep happening ill still keep getting up at 5:30 to wait to see the morning sunrises. Also here are some pictures of the sunrises I’ve seen thus far!! Enjoy! PEACE

XOXO
Heather
