At the beginning of my month, one of my sweet friends gave me the idea of writing down daily things that happened as a way to remember what I experienced during h is time. And also a simple way to recap my month. So I did. And I’m calling it the daily jot. My goal was the write every day a little something. It could be what I did in ministry, what I ate, what the Lord is doing or maybe a struggle or frustration. I decided to share it in a blog to help you all gauge what daily life on the race looks like.

Enjoy!

At the airport. Again. I feel like I live at this airport. Been here so much. Spending time with Jesus now. With coffee of course too. Today was filled with a lot of finally’s. Like finally we check out bags, finally we went thru security. Finally we found our gate. Finally we found chick fi la. Finally we boarded the plane after a 2+ hour delay. And finally we landed in ft lauderdale. And finally the travel days continues.

First day of school! We piled on the bus at about 7:30. Picking kids up along the way. They sang songs in creole as we pulled up to the property. It was a huge cement block area. With a few buildings. Two construction completed buildings which are the current class rooms. The kids are adorable. We basically just observed. It was also a half day bc it was Friday. The kids rotate to all there classes. The system seems crazy but they handle and wrangle the kids so well. I loved being here. For PE we danced in a circle. Simple but so life giving. Once back at the house we finally got our groceries. So we cooked the potato egg and veggie dish. It’s super simple and delicious. Always a challenge to cook for 16 people with little kitchen utensils.

Happy Sunday. It was good to have a sabbath. I didn’t go to church with some of the others. I sat ate bread, coffee and read my bible. For a good while. Then I went and did a be still. Where I just sat and let God direct my prayers and time. Just being still before him. No crazy revelations. But I felt full after. We just hung out most of the day. Had egg Sandwiches for lunch. Then communication issue came up. Quinn, Greg, Anna and I decided to go to the cafe to discuss what we needed to present to the group. It was actually really good. We work well together. And I’m super thankful for them. Couldn’t do this without them. We had spaghetti. I made the sauce earlier in the day. I just felt like cooking. It’s 8:30. Bed time sounds about right.

Today was my long day at the school. Megan came with me. I was really tired. I fought to stay awake during their lunch. Anna’s team made dinner, the eggs were green. Turns out it was a prank. Plus they pulled another prank telling us people outside the compound where complaining about our knees showing. Community living at its finest. Lol.

The power has been going out a lot lately. So we haven’t been getting coffee. Maybe it’s the Lord telling me to let it go. Lol. Anyways this morning a little bit was brewed before the power shut off. And Annalise asked if I wanted a bit of it. It made my morning. It might sound silly. But I had a hard day yesterday. And I was thinking how hard today might be too. But that little generous thought that meant so much. Plus today was my last regular day at school. Which was sad. Those kids got my heart for sure. Watched the teams play basketball. Then we ordered pizza. What a great day!

Went to the school one last time to wrap of organizing the class rooms. There were a ton of kids just hanging out there this time. We got the place looking real nice. It was our last day at grace so amazing. The team had planned a big dinner for all the staff. So we waited to help set up for that in the evening. Cleaned a lot, finished packing.

Thanks for reading! I’m also still in need of funding. Consider donating as I start my last month on the field.
