It’s the Climb Nepal Style.
I’ve never hiked this much in my life, in one day. So here are my emotions.
I love mountains, I love them in pictures, and love gazing at them, when we flew into Kathmandu Nepal the mountains surrounded the city, everyone was awestruck, taking pictures especially of the sunsets and sunrises over the mountains ranges. When my team got to our ministry site which is somewhere in a corner of Kathmandu we were entering into a family, we were welcomed not has missionaries but has sisters. Our ministry host or “Papa” as we call him has been a pastor for 30 years in Nepal, he has 4 children who have been with us doing ministry, Samuel, Affia, Elizabeth and Greshom (one of the sons) said the next day for ministry we were going to wake up have breakfast get on a bus for 45 minutes then hike over a mountain to a church on the hillside to preach and have fellowship with the pastors family. We were ecstatic!
When the bus dropped us off at the bottom of the hill, we walked straight up incline for about 15 minutes. Greshom kept telling us it’s only like this for a little bit, then the incline finally subsided to an amazing view in the mountains. The next two hours were weaving up around the mountain and down to the village. We eventually made our way to the church very sweaty but welcomed, the church was a tin one room small building behind a small house by way of passage walking next to a corn field which doubles as a bathroom. We got to worship with them, share messages and testimonies and pray for them, it was amazing the oneness of the meeting, even though we had translators and they sang in another language it didn’t hinder community or unity. It was amazing.
Then. We had to walk back up the mountain. Cool, great, I had a plan I would put in my earphones and listen to worship music the steady way up. It would be tough but I could do it. It was like that for about a half hour, a nice slow incline up. The pastor we walked with had a short cut to get to his house which is on top of the mountain. Never take a short cut up a mountain unless you physically want to die. I’m regretting not taking a picture of it when we were walking it but I was too concentrated on not passing out or complaining that my legs can’t take another step. I like hiking but this was past my ability. If you could of heard my internal dialogue I would of had my whole team laughing I was either praying to the good lord to make it stop or asking Him to help me not cry, cause that would have been embarrassing. We met our other teammates at the top and the finale walk to them my team mate Meagan and Grashom were literally pulling me so I could make it. I can walk just fine on flat surfaces but that was something else. I went from a spiritual high at the church and was so excited and then dropped the more we walked up, when we got to the top everyone was pointing out look at the view you did it! Isn’t it worth it? Trying to encourage me and let me know I did it, but I was more in the mood to punch something especially when Greshom said it was a foothill not a mountain. I understand living in Nepal you see all the different sizes of hills and mountains and classify them as such but where I’m from that wasn’t no “hill”. I of course laughed it off and had a vary satisfying meal and got to the bottom safely. That night I slept beautifully. I claimed I mountain folks.
I can’t help but notice my humanity. I love mountains, I love how clear the air is (when you can actually breath it) I love the sight of even just one but you put them together with others until you are surrounded it’s recks the beauty of anything else, breathtaking really. So in dedication to this day I took the liberty to re write Miley Cyrus’s song It’s the claim. Enjoy the the read. And enjoy the hike.

I can almost see it that top of the hill I’m climbing but there’s a voice inside my head saying you’ll never reach it, every step I’m taking every move I make feels like I’m a 80 year old women with no direction my feet are shaking but I’m going to keep trying gonna keep my head held high!
There’s always gonna be another mountain I’m always gonna wanna be done with it, always gonna be an up hill battle sometimes I’m gonna have to hurt someone, Ain’t about how fast I get there or even if I’m the last one straggleing, ain’t about what’s waiting on the other side (even if it’s an amazing view!!)
It’s the climb.
The struggles I’m facing the potholes I’m tripping in, sometime they knock me down but no I’m not breaking I may not know it but these are the moments that I’m gonna remember most yeah just gotta keep going
And I gotta be strong gotta keep holding on (to Megan and Gresom)
Cause
There’s always gonna be another mountain I’m always gonna wanna be done with it, always gonna be an up hill battle sometimes I’m gonna have to hurt someone, Ain’t about how fast I get there or even if I’m the last one straggleing, ain’t about what’s waiting on the other side (even if it’s an amazing view!!)
It’s the climb.
Keep claiming keep not losing my faith, keep my faith. It’s all about the climb. Whoo whoaa
Hope you laughed and enjoyed the read! Thank you for your support and prayers. Please keep my team in your prayers.
