As a teenager the hardest part of high school besides surviving school is finding a group of people that you connect with and feel at home around. I never had that. I was a floater in school and still am. I was always searching for the community I belonged in.
I thought I had found one my junior year of high school and it was great. I felt like I belonged and then my life changed that summer. Wilderness and Work Crew changed me. I felt at home on work crew, we were a family. When I came home, all I wanted to do was share how my life had changed for the better. The community I had found in New Braunfels didn’t care how my life had changed. They told me to stop talking about it cause they had heard everything I had to say about Work Crew and Wilderness. Soon after that, I stopped talking about it. My Work Crew family wasn’t texting with each other as much, and I was drowning.
Getting accepted into the World Race saved me. As soon as I was added to the Facebook group, I was asked to join a group text they had. Instantly I knew that they were the community that I was searching for, despite the fact that we are spread across the country.
A couple weeks ago I asked a couple World Race people if they wanted to come to my Lake house over spring break. This past weekend I got to meet seven members of my World Race family. Aly, Lauryn, and Tanner are all from Texas, and Alex, Maggie, Sarah, and Jonny are all from out of state.
Meeting them felt like a dream. Im still not positive that it happened. I’ve never felt more at home than I did with them. We talked about everything, we danced, we worshiped, and we shared our testimonies. I have never laughed as much as I did these past couple days. They brought so much joy to my heart. Meeting them has lessened the doubts I had about next year and made me realize how my life is going to change. This Spring Break has definitely been one I will remember for years to come.
I am currently at $11,416 out of $14,951 or 76% fundraised. There is only one spot left on my route, and there are 55 in total. If every person that read this blog donated as little as $2-$5, It would bring me much closer my final goal. As I get closer to training camp in July, if you could keep praying for my journey, my squad, and the people that we will meet next year, I would be so grateful.
Thank You so Much for reading my blog,
