Children, teenagers, classrooms, roaming, food, and joy. These, among so much more, are the things that seem to consume my phone’s camera roll. A week in the life is sometimes hard to explain but my hope is that pictures help shed light on what the World Race actually looks like.

Our morning prayer walk that bring an incredible sense of peace.

We have an office at Scripture Union and the guys like to think we’re straight out of an episode from The Office. We spend a few hours a day in this room doing anything from planning lessons, talking to workers, reading, or practicing yo yo tricks. What a place.

Mid morning comes around and ministry begins.

Sometimes there are elementary schoolers and they go WILD the second we start playing. Energy abounds like no other.

Some schools aren’t nearly as crazy. I love going to visiting with older students (most tend to be around my age) where we can work on lessons with them and build each other up.

We have the opportunity to visit an all girls school everyday and I cannot express how wonderful the girls are. They walk in boldness and seek growth in awesome ways. They also know how to praise and worship like nothing I’ve ever seen before. So much dancing and joy it’s unreal!

After ministry we go home and have team time, maybe watch a movie, plan lessons, and do the occasional cooking. Shoutout to Rodrigo for being our go to chef because he cooks some mean mac n cheese.

By the time the day draws to an end I’m usually ready to pass out by ten o’clock. Thankful for these sunsets that are full of pinks, blues, and oranges that mark another day in the books. They have become a favorite part of my day.

Life on the race has become weirdly normal. Never would I have thought I could manage to be so comfortable and at peace in an African country, yet here I am. While no day is the same, this somewhat of a routine is something I thoroughly enjoy. We have one more week in Zimbabwe before heading to Zambia and I know saying goodbye will be hard; this place is full of kindness and love like I’ve never seen. Cheers to a home away from home.

Xoxo,
Emily
