Ministry looks different everyday here in Nepal. Yesterday was full of witnessing super sweet ministries that are doing great things in the city. We got to know people that strive to better both their community and the world, putting all of their energy into what they believe in. This week I want to highlight ways that you can help places like Kathmandu, Nepal.
Early Monday morning my team and I visited one of Kathmandu’s slums. The slum consists of card board houses and endless trash lining the streets. Children run wild and they surrounded us the second we walked up. We began playing tag, hide and seek, and any other game we could think of. After a few minutes we headed inside to see the ministry in action. This ministry, Dail Community, blew my mind. They run a child sponsorship program for kids in the slum and it provides a warm breakfast each day, a community that loves them (which is not common among this slum), a solid education and all the necessary school supplies, and both hygiene education and hygienic materials. This is huge stuff that enables children to break the cycle of poverty and build a future they once only dreamed of.
My team and I spent the morning serving breakfast, cleaning, and spending time with the sweet kids. We got to know the adults behind the program and witness their hearts for all of the kids. I honestly cannot say enough positive things about the Dail Community Ministry. If you’re interested in what they’re doing or you want to partner with them, check out the website. It’s so worth your time! They are always seeking prayers for the children and for support to help them in building up the community. http://dailusa.org/en/dail02_06_01.asp
After spending the morning with Dail, my team and I ate lunch and visited another ministry in Kathmandu. We sat down and talked to the cofounder of Gentle Heart Foundation – a foundation that provides a home to orphaned and underprivileged children as well as high risk girls and sexually exploited/trafficked women. They take women out of the sex trafficking industry and provide them a home, therapy, vocational training, and a solid community of women to build them up and help in any way possible. It’s a seven year long program that aims to reintegrate women into communities and become productive members of society. By the end of the program women are able to run their own business and provided the means to do so.
We had the opportunity to visit the women’s home and we witnessed heartbreak that is being mended in such holistic ways. I wish I could do the foundation justice but words are hard to come by. They have a heart for women and they’re seeking out the hurt and abused in ways that build this city up rather than tear it down. Sitting and getting to know the ministry brought me to tears. The leadership team is made up of the most genuine women that stop at nothing to bring the love people so desperately need down to Earth. They are humble, hard working, and beautiful women that are doing mighty things.
If you have some time, please check out this website. Pray for this ministry and their work because it really is such a sweet place!!

Thanks for reading and keeping up with me. Today I leave for a week long hiking trip to the outskirts of Nepal. We will be visiting unreached people groups and communities of people that were pushed out of the city as untouchables. Keep my team and I in your thoughts as we serve and get to know these communities of people throughout the week. I am so excited for what the Lord is going to do!
