Hi! My name is Emily and I am from Dripping Springs, Texas (right outside of Austin). I’m 18 years old and a senior at Dripping Springs High School. I love reading and writing, but for some reason this “About Me” section is not too easy, so here are some fun facts about me instead!

  • I go to Sunset Canyon Baptist Church and have been involved there for most of my life. My heart is so in love with the church and the youth group, and it is where I’ve found my love for ministry.
  • I love, love, love meeting new people.
  • I live in Dripping Springs, but I try to be in Austin as much as possible. Going to the running trail at Town Lake and playing at Zilker are some of my absolute favorite things to do.
  • I live with my mom and my dad and I have two older brothers. These four humans are my absolute favorite and they bring me so much happiness!
  • I play tennis (although I’m definitely not a pro).
  • I work at the YMCA in ChildWatch and babysit, a lot. Naturally I spend most of my time with kids or at church, so getting the opportunity to go on the World Race is perfect- kids and Jesus loving hearts are some of my favorite things!
  • Another one of my favorite things to do is read. Some of my go-to books are Love DoesThe Alchemist, and East of Eden. If you ever have recommendations, hit me up, please!!
  • Music is something I am obsessed with. Most days are spent with Spotify draining my phone battery. Gungor, MisterWives, and The Avett Brothers are probably my favorite bands. SO GOOD!
  • One of my most valued verses all throughout middle school and high school is Romans 12:2 –look it up because y’all, it is the best reminder of what this life means and who we’re living for.
  • Going on the World Race has been a dream of mine for a while now, and having this opportunity to go and serve is something I am incredibly thankful for.
  • If you’ve made it this far down the list, you are a trooper and I appreciate it!

So maybe you learned something new about me, and if not, that is totally cool too! There will be plenty of updates to come. Thank you so very much for being apart of this journey with me. I could not be more excited. God is so good!

With much love,

Emily Hooker
