Adventure day! That looks very different every country and city on the Race. But today it looked like going with our host to see a cave and swimming in a pool afterwards.
The cave we went to was overpriced for us poor “internationals” but still very beautiful to see! There was water at the bottom that was a deep blue but still crystal clear because you could see the bottom. Apparently, the cave is so deep, that even scuba divers have not found the bottom of it. Pretty crazy.
We wandered through more tunnels of the caves. At one entrance of a cave we stumbled upon monkeys! I would have expected bats instead but this was more unique. The place where we saw the caves was a national forest with campgrounds and even a motel. It also had a place to have wedding, and there was one going on while we were there!
After the caves, our host took us to the pool to go swimming. We didn’t realize that the pool was the motel’s pool and you could pay a small fee just to go swimming in it. After we paid and ate lunch, we dipped our toes in the water to test the temperature. FREEZING. Like frigid freezing. NOT pleasant. Shoot. We didn’t want to waste our money so Sylvia and I jumped in the ice water. It was fun for about 1.3 seconds and then I had had enough. It wasn’t a warm enough day to adjust to the water so I climbed right back out. We all sat on the edge of the pool with just our feet dangling in the water. I was trying to enjoy the coolness of it while soaking up as much sun as I could.
While we sat there and talked, some of the men in the wedding party started heading our way. We weren’t sure what they were up to at first as they kept making motions to jump in the pool but obviously were dressed way too nicely to do that. Not long after, the rest of the wedding party joined them at the pool, including the bride and groom! And it was no small wedding party.
We had joked about crashing the wedding because it was so near to us, but they had just crashed our pool party instead! We felt incredibly out of place in our swimsuits and white skin. We decided to weave through the crowd back to our towels and clothes and get dressed. The wedding party was kind to us and proceeded to take wedding photos. I guess the pool was the prettiest spot around. It was quite hilarious to suddenly have an entire wedding stumble onto your pool party, but we enjoyed it anyway!
