Nepal is a beautiful country. The mountains. The people. I love all of it. If India had just a few more mountains then I think the countries would be tied in my book.
In Nepal, church services are held on Saturdays rather than on Sunday. Our 8 teams split up to go to 7 different churches to preach and teach for the Saturday morning service. Our team paired up with another team to do a youth group service rather than a morning service. It was INCREDIBLE.
It felt like being in my youth group again back in America. Minus that it was a group of 50 Nepali teenagers instead. But it made me feel like a teenager again! We sang several worship songs in English. Their voices were beautiful. After worship, Jacob and Eric brought the word! I love when I get to hear the boys on my team preach. God has definitely given them an incredible gift for preaching.
After preaching we played two games with the group. They involved clumping into different groups of numbers and if you were the odd person out then you had to sit down. The youth loved it and were getting very competitive! They were laughing and smiling the whole time and so were we. After the service, we had cookies and juice and got to chat with the group. Their English was great so it was very easy to communicate.
Most of the girls in the youth group are orphans that all live in a home together. They have been rescued from their homes to save them from being trafficked. This was very near to my heart as I heard this because this is what the missionaries that I stayed with in India do as well.
These girls have so much joy in their lives. It was a huge testament knowing where they are coming from. It was an honor to talk with them and get to hear their stories for a little while. They know God is faithful and taking care of them. It seriously warmed my heart so much to just see the joy of the Lord bursting out of these young women.
Right before we left, we joined together in a huge circle to sing more worship songs with actions to them. We were just dancing and jumping around without a care in the world. It was honestly one of my most favorite moments on the Race so far. Hearing their voices singing praises to our Father. God is so good. Even though Nepal is filled with a lot of darkness, God is faithful to bring His light to the city as well. He loves His children and has not forgotten a single one of us.
