I am able to say, ” I don’t need a story” when the approval that I seek is not based on what I do but who I am as a daughter.

We all seek approval and valadation from someone, and I am going to try my best to be vulnerable and share what God has been showing me.

Last month in Thailand we were able to focus a lot on being in a healthy place and finding our identity in our Father and who we are as daughters.

I was reading the book, Sonship by James Jordan, when I came across the part where he explained? the verses in Acts 17: 24 and 25 where It says, God is the Lord of heaven and earth and He is not served by human hands as if He needed anything, rather He Himself gives life and breath and everything else.

Wait… What??!!

God doesn’t need me to serve Him??!

Well, I guess I kind of knew that, (in my head at least), but I did not live that way.

It was one of those moments where revelation dropped into the very core of my being and it is totally transforming the way I live my life!

Not only does He not need me to serve Him, Papa just wants a relationship with His daughter!

Since being on the race, God has been working on my heart about living a missional life in such a way that it is ‘from’ Him and not ‘for’ Him but I found myself striving to be in that place.

As I would walk down the street I would find myself asking, “Should I talk to the person who looks like they’re having a hard day? Should I pray for the crippled woman? Should I put money in the beggars cup?”

But I realize this was all coming from a works based mentality, because I ‘needed’ a story to bring to God and to people so I could feel good about myself… that I did something ‘for’ God.

But my approval and validation does not come from what I do, I have Papa’s approval because I’m His daughter!

I am learning what it looks like to live as a daughter, not as a servant. I don’t need to come with a story, because my worth is not based on anything I do. I am loved. I am accepted for who I am.

I would highly recommend reading the book Sonship by James Jordan, especially if you want to know what it’s like to live as a son and daughter. It will change your life!
