Dear my beloved, cherished, and faithful supporters,
I am finally at the end of my 9 month mission trip and am packing my bags and will be in America THIS WEEK! Because of each of you I have been able to complete this journey. Whether you bought a t-shirt, shared a post, sent in a donation, subscribed to my blog, or spread the word about my trip-I am so extremely grateful for each and everyone of you. Thank you for your willingness to allow The Lord to use you to bless me but ultimately bless Him. I wouldn’t have finished or even began this journey without the calling He placed on my heart. And at the start of all this I was just as skeptical as I know you all were at some point. How in the world could an 18 year old raise over $15,000, pack her life into a backpack, and leave the country for 9 months?
Trust me I didn’t think the day would come when I would leave, or get fully funded, let alone get home either. But because each of you responding to a tug on your heart from The Holy Spirit and supporting me in some way, together we were all able to make this happen.
I want you guys to understand something; if you don’t get anything else from what my trip meant get this-
because of you my heart has forever been broken for my New Hope Students in Cambodia. They will, forever (and I don’t take that lightly) have such a special place in my heart. I cry sometimes because I miss them so much, and I know in my heart I will one day see them again. You guys were apart of that bond that was made and the opportunity for me to teach them english and for them to learn english.
because of you we were also able to give big relief for a missionary family transitioning through ministries. Being on the field for 9 months I know how hard it can be and how burnt out you can get. ust by my team being there as 5 extra hands meant so much to them. You guys were apart of that.
because of you we were able to go into a special needs orphanage and help with preparing their goods to sell and raise support for the homes. We were also able to love the residents so well and just spend time with them along with our hosts. Our hosts were also going through a period of financial transitions and by us being there and helping with carpentry and painting of their products we were able to provide free labor in order to raise money for their ministry.
because of you we were able to go into 6 different schools in Guatemala and give the teachers relief and help plan lessons, teach english, and build relationships with the students. Along with love on the locals and make a good name for the base there and Christians as a whole.
and because of you we were able to love on and show the love of Jesus to refugees who have only ever seen and experienced violence. Being thrown out of their homes and shipped all over the country to 7 different camps, separated from their families, and being exposed to some of the worst situations. These kids have grown up so fast and with us being there they are finally able to be kids again, run and play, laugh, and learn english.
So yes, your support did so much for me and allowed me to experience some amazing cultures, eat crazy food, and have fun adventures. But more than that it helped all these people all over the world to experience the love of Jesus.Thank you each dearly for making this happen and being apart of the whole experience! Now onto the next adventure The Lord has for me, and farewell to the race and my WR blogging season!
Much Love
Drew
