Something that has always been near and dear to my heart is the act of worship. Even at a young age when I hadn’t yet made my faith my own I knew worship and the act of singing praises to God was an important thing.
You could say my family is pretty musical. My dad and sister are both very inclined when it comes to singing, playing, and writing music. My aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents play and/or sing as well. We have always had music as background noise and jam sessions during family gatherings and holiday’s. Music has been a big part of my life so I knew that the way I felt when worshipping was a much different feeling than I would get when praying or reading my bible. Worship has always been like a direct soul and spirit connection between me and God-very intimate and special.
When I got into high school I started volunteering at my church youth group worship team-so fun. I would also help lead worship for my summer camp teams. And since being on the race I have a new role as a ‘worship coordinator’.
I’ve mentioned this briefly in past blogs, but basically what I, along with another squad-mate Marissa, do is help cultivate and maintain a worshipful atmosphere during team times within teams and plan worship sets for squad events like worship nights, LDW (Leadership Developmental Weekends) and debriefs. The role has helped me step out of my comfort zone but it has been so good. I am able to help be apart of creating an atmosphere of worship for others to encounter Jesus in the way I do best. I am able to use ways that I best enter a place of the Lords Presence in order for others to do the same.
This past weekend we had an LDW and one night a squad mate Lauryn and I were able to do a precision and vocal only set. So we made a mash-up of about 3 or 4 songs that had similar beats and hit on a guitar case and a water jug. It was probably one of my favorite worship sets I’ve ever been able to be apart of, let alone plan. I normally only stick to vocals, but it was so fun to be able to play and sing. Definitely out of my comfort zone, but since I took a step of obedience and did what I felt like The Lord had asked of me in the worship set He showed up and was moving.
I tell you all of this because worship to me is more than singing some songs. It’s creating a space for The Lord to come. It’s when we as humans spend time out of our ‘busy days’ to worship, praise, and thank our Creator.
A couple months ago The Lord taught me a lot about fear and what fearing The Lord looked like ( I wrote a blog about it if you want to check it out). Then this weekend He gave me the word Reverence. I thought this directly connected with fear, but when I looked it up it said,
profound, adoration, awed respect, worshipful.

Hebrews 5:7 says

“While Jesus was here on earth, He offered prayers and pleadings, with a loud cry and tears, to the one who could rescue Him from death. And God heard His prayers because of His deep reverence for God.” NLT

Jesus spent time worshipping, praying, and in reverence of The Lord. And He is our example of how we should live.
I try and spend time in worship daily and it has deepened my relationship with Him and changed how I see my Father.

I want to encourage you all to do the same. See what He has for you, what He’s saying to you. But also take the time to lift praises up to the Most High for giving you life and love and so many other blessings.
Bellow I will add a list of some of my favorite worship songs if you are interested!
Thank you again for reading and have a blessed time worshiping! Thanks for allowing me to share a bit about what worship means to me.
