Alana has taught me so much in the past week and a half. She doesn’t have to be capable of speech to speak. She doesn’t have to be able to walk to get around. She doesn’t have to have all the luxuries in the world to flash her beautiful smile. She doesn’t have to be the same as the all the other children to know she is loved.

She doesn’t have to have legs to be able to dance.

And she doesn’t need wings to be able to soar.

Differently-abled does not mean incapable.

Her personality, her soul, her love for the Father, is not limited by her physical condition. Her potential is not defined by what the world decides she can offer, but by who the Creator of the Universe made her to be.

And He has made her perfect- beautiful, unique, a reflection of His image. He has made her full of joy, overflowing with love for anybody who crosses the threshold of her house. He has made her capable of sharing His story with anybody she meets through her ability to make them feel seen, known, and loved.

Her strength in love, her stamina in determination, her endurance to wake up and to improve her physical body every day comes not from herself, but from Him who will never wear out. For:

“Do you not know?
    Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
    the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
    and his understanding no one can fathom.
29 He gives strength to the weary
    and increases the power of the weak.
30 Even youths grow tired and weary,
    and young men stumble and fall;
31 but those who hope in the Lord
    will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
    they will run and not grow weary,
    they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40:28-31

Someday, she will get a new body. She will run forever and not grow weary. She will leap and jump and dance all on her own, and she will not grow faint. But today, as she is confined by her physical limitations, she is soaring on the hope of our Father in Heaven.

When I held her and danced with her, I was her strength physically for a few moments, but she is teaching me how to have spiritual strength and joy no matter what my circumstances, and for that I am eternally grateful.

Our ministry this month has been partnering with a special needs orphanage. We have been getting to know the children and the caretakers and helping out in any way possible. We’ve been cleaning out an old house, and putting on VBS for the kids every afternoon. The caretakers love the kiddos so much, and it has been amazing to partner alongside this organization for the month. They all want to give the kids the best life possible, but they are limited by the amount of funds they have.

Alana needs monthly donors in order to make her physical leaps and bounds possible. She needs funds for medical purposes, so she can proceed with physical therapy and get the right equipment to make her body stronger.

Thank you for your time, your support, and your prayers. I can feel them from seven thousand miles away. Our God is on the move, and I am blessed to see the results of His work and so thankful that each of you have been a part of this beautiful journey with me.
