Haiti: Day 1 April 23
I’m literally in a cage. We are riding in the back of a huge truck, caged in riding through the streets of Port airport Prince. A man just ran down my leg with his hand on the outside of the cage. I almost feel as if I am back in Asia, but with black people. And everything is in French.

We have been traveling for five days to get here. Not sure how long it will take to get to our compound.
It’s almost like the poverty can’t shock me anymore. Like I can’t be moved by it. Where has my compassion gone? I can see Jesus walking with each person on the street. He’s right there with them. The only stirring in my heart is the question: Do they know He is there? Papa break my heart for what breaks yours.

Kissy count:1
Day 2: April 24
Not much to report. Rested and painted today. This evening we met with our hosts. Bishop said he had gotten a cough overnight because of the rain and getting wet. I felt the Lord shoving me to pray healing. The squad THP really drove into my soul even though I didn’t necessarily want it to. But it was amazing stepping out in boldness.
Day 3: April 25
We started ministry today, well we went to ministry to have something to do. Thomas and I were sent to the school that is here on the compound.
?
We shadowed the girls team that is here from America.
?
I actually got kidnapped after recess…by kids. An older class held me and we danced and exchanged English and creole words. It was the best part of the day. We laughed and sweated and danced for more than half an hour until Thomas came and found me. Or heard us. Same thing. After school Thomas and I went to help with the Lords kitchen.
In the afternoon we went to a Childrens home. It took us longer to get there than we actually spent there, but we had a good time.
?
on the way the roads were so gross they were carrying through this muck of waste. People were climbing walls to avoid the road conditions. It was heartbreaking.

I played basketball with one of the boys towards the end. I’m still not very good haha. Right before we left I felt another prompting by the Holy Spirit to pray for the home and kids. So I stopped both teams from leaving and asked our translator if we could pray. He said yes. I don’t know why I was shocked. But I like the boldness.
Last night as a team we watched new girl, and off to bed early I went. Seems to be a theme here.

Kissy count: 2 if you count the school boy haha.

Day 4: April 26
Wow. Such an amazing day. We had our orientation today, which included an in depth tour of our campus. Wow. This organization has a history in itself. It was a long established ministry before the 2010 earthquake, but the earthquake turned this place into a city within a city of refuge. Thousands of people lived on the 16 acre campus around the hospital, children’s home, school, and church. And you can feel it here, the spirit of safety, or refuge. We were able to hear story after story of how resourceful the Grace International staff is, and how resilient. They remind me of the Old Testament heroes like Joshua, Caleb, Shamgar, Ehud, Othiniel. They did things no person ever wants to do, but they did because God told them to. And they all did it with courage, because God has gone before them.
After our tour we were able to write down where we few God leading us for ministry over the month. We should find out soon what our day to day will look like.

THEN this afternoon over lunch I was able to meet Rebecca. She is one of the police wives here with their mission team training local police. We ate together and started talking, and wow. She is amazing. She let me talk, I got to hear a part of her story, and start this amazing relationship. I didn’t even know I needed someone to pour into me, but God knew. We talked about mission, ministry, marriage…life. She prayed over me before we went to our afternoon ministry, and wow. Yeah.
THEN we were riot protestors for police training!
?
It was so much fun helping these men and women train! We love our men and women in blue in America and Haiti.
For team time we all sat and star gazed in the roof in the cool weather. Those are the moments I’m going to miss the most from this journey.
Day 5: April 27
Up and at them this morning! I dove into Romans 8 and wow. I feel like I could spend forever in that chapter alone.

that page was blank before this morning.
THEN this morning Thomas and I went back to the school to teach today. We started out in chapel with all these kids! We sang How Great Thou Art (they sang in Creole, I was English obviously) and other songs.

?
Avencia is my new five year old friend. She came and crawled into my lap pretty early on in chapel, and followed me the rest of day.
?
after Recess Thomas and I taught numbers and months to these kids!

They know so much more English than I know Creole haha. After we finished class we served around 500 kids lunch! I placed spoons and handed out food from this window for a couple hours!

After lunch we found out we had the rest of the day off, and we made our way to Ice cream and the grocery store with the police team!! There was air conditioning there, I giggled when we walked in! I also found a 3 musketeer.
Now I finish writing watching the sunset on our roof. This month in Haiti…please slow down.
