So this week I was reading Exodus 17, and I came across the chapter where Israel defeats Amalek. Moses send Joshua with some men out to fight. While they were doing that, Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up on a mountain. When Moses held up his hand, Joshua and the Israelites were winning. When Moses put his hands down, they started to lose. So Aaron and Hur stepped up. They sat Moses down on a rock, and held up each of his arms. Y’ALL. Do you know how hard that is? The Lord blessed me with an opportunity to hold someone’s arm up THE SAME DAY I read this story. We were in the mountain village we are serving in, and our translator was praying for a woman we had been serving. The woman had both of her hands up and surrender to the Lord, and Makee was touching her palm is well praying. I heard the Lord to whisper, “go hold her arm up.” I wasn’t sure at first and I hesitated. But finally overcame those silly doubts in my head and went and held Marissalina’s arm up. AND WOAH. It was hard, but so good. She will continue to put more more weight on me as she continue to surrender to the Lord. I was able to pray for my sister and stand beside her. And guess what? The Israelites one and I know we did too on top of that mountain.
I say all that to say, hold each other’s arms up this week. Find a way to stand in the gap and do the hard thing with your family, friends, and brothers and sisters in Christ. I don’t know what that looks like for you, but I can tell you it will look like Jesus.
