Standing on the shoreline at our resort in Durban for debrief and all I can see for miles are crashing waves against the beach. The beach is one of my favorite places to see, feel, and hear God’s power.

When God questioned Job at the end of the book he asks: “Who shut up the sea behind doors when it burst forth from the womb, when I made the clouds its garment and wrapped it in thick darkness, when I fixed limits for it and set its doors and bars in place, when I said, “This far you may come and no farther; here is where your proud waves halt”?”
??Job? ?38:8-11?

Every wave that comes crashing in is a reminder of Gods power. A literal tangible experience of the power of His words. Every single wave is restrained by His words and can only go as far as they would let it. Later on God says that He has ventured to the depths of the sea and seen where the oceans spring from. So not only does God know where the ocean begins, He also tells it where to end. As someone still grieving the loss of a grandparent, it’s a good reminder that God knows the end of my grief. Just like the waves of the ocean, God will call the waves of life and grief back to the depths where they came from. Every wave that hits you in your journey has a limit that God has already set. I hope this is a comfort to you in whatever you may be facing today!
