(Graffiti at the port of Mytilini)
As I begin our new month here in Malaysia I wanted to write a few more blogs about our previous month in Greece at the refugee camp. I have another blog coming soon that is kind of a wrap up blog on the month and I wanted to make sure I had time to process through it and give it the proper time it deserves. But I wanted to leave you with this until then… I complied all of the graffiti that refugees had written on the gates that I spent most of my month guarding. I hope you are able to see a glimpse into their hearts through their hand written expressions.
You know the smallest thing can change your life
in a blink of an eye something happens by chance
Set you on a course you never planned
Into a future you’ve never imagined
Where will it take you, isn’t that a journey
Of your lives, our search for the light
But sometimes finding the light
Means you must pass through the
Deepest darkness
You become rich when you give everything
(Graffiti in Mytilini)
Come as you are
Go as you’re meant to be
When you turn your face into the sun
The shadow falls behind you
If I die don’t cry look at the sky and say goodbye
His mercies are new each day
You are more important than you think
(Graffiti in Mytilini that says “Refugee Art Trail”)
