I’m not even sure where to begin, Serbia. But you have been totally unfair. You stole my heart, and my husband’s heart. Specifically you, Sombor. Not only have you swept in with your small town charm, your hilariously sarcastic people, and decadent Nutella pancakes on every corner, but you created a home for us this month.

Your streets have become familiar as we have prayer walked throughout the city.

Your faces have become known to us as we pass through to the Chinastore.

Your ice cream stands have cooled us during the heat of the day.

And Via Gusto, you became our central watering hole.

But what really took our hearts, is your heart.

Endless games of uno, which Serbian word can Bethany learn today, and deep conversations about who Jesus really is filled our month.

Community is a real thing. It was here that Derek and Bethany first felt that kind of love from our church.

You have given us friends we weren’t expecting. Friends who encourage my soul, sarcasm, and sass. {ma dai bre}

Serbia, this is definitely not a breakup letter. It’s just a “vidimo se uskoro” letter.
