My God is Bigger Than You!
This is our last week in Haiti and as we are finishing up month 1, I have been thinking a lot. These past few weeks have been amazing. We have been working with an organization called “Supply and Multiply.” Our work with them has been really impactful within the community. From feeding the kids at a school who are super impoverished to being a friend to the elderly here in Haiti. I have made many friendships that are going to be hard to leave. In the forefront of my mind however, is the spiritual warfare we have been facing.
The enemy has tried to attack us in many ways: from some of the team getting physically sick, to having our identifies in Christ attacked, having demonic/weird dreams, to hearing the sound of drums, feeling voodoo being practiced, to hearing dog fights right outside the compound we are in, and the witch doctors preforming rituals at night. I can’t help but to lay in my bed and pray calling on the name of Jesus, Abba, Father. My team this week, (and really this whole month), have been under attack because of the work we have been doing in Haiti.
Though these things are happening, I have to take it as some sort of compliment. You see if these things didn’t happen, (though not fun to experience at the time), I would simply be trusting God is in it (by looking to the fruit of our works) but because of the reaction we have gotten I feel it is confirmation we are doing something right here. The enemy has been threatened and is on the prowl. Satan has been prowling like a lion, and he would like for us to see him that way. What I see when I look at him however, would only make him more angry. Though he would like to tell us otherwise, I know that Satan isn’t a lion. In comparison to Christ, I see Satan as a small kitten who’s roar is bigger than his bite. My God is the true lion and is bigger and stronger than any other power we come against. The verse that comes to my mind is 1 Peter 5:8-9 “Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing the the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world”.
In our time here, during the current situation we’ve been facing. We have been diligent to come together in prayer and seek the Lord’s face. Together we have become stronger and have put our trust in the Lord. I have seen so much growth in each of the women on my team and I’m beyond blessed to lead them. They have elegantly executed what it looks like to pray in the midst of tribulation while also patiently waiting on the Lord’s answers. Romans 12:12, “Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer”.
In conclusion, God is moving is some crazy ways here! I want to challenge the readers back home to seek the same. Be on the look out for the distractions in your everyday life that could be taking away from seeking the Lord’s face. Remember, even if God hasn’t answered one of your prayers yet, continue to press into Him. He wants to see if you really want to know; He will answer. Again, I leave you with Romans 12:12. This verse has been one I have mediated on sense early last year. It’s kinda of my motto.
Thank you to everyone who has prayed and supported me through this time on the mission field abroad. I still have a short way to go to be fully funded ($976). Please prayerfully consider donating if this is your first time giving to join me on this journey.
Prayer requests: My team has had trouble with distractions that come along with living intense community as well is outside noises. Please remember us in your prayers.
