Self-Care:

As I’m journeying through navigating life at home I’ve picked up some “simple” self-care tips and added my own twist to them and I’d like to share some:

•Set a time for every night that you’ll set your phone aside (Mine is 10:30pm, I just started this one)

•Charge phone in a separate room and set alarm (makes you have to get up to turn it off)

•Take Bubble Baths. Pick your fav candles and light them babies up. I have a playlist from Spotify called The Good Cup that plays mostly instrumental versions of worship songs that I absolutely adore.

•I got this from the book Weird by Craig Groeschel to stop for five minutes a day and do absolutely nothing. No phone, no work, no reading, nada. Just you and the Lord.

•Speak a truth over myself every morning (I just started to do this again as well) and/or every night. I have a vast list of these if you’re interested just let me know.

•Do not check phone first thing in the am above everything else.

•Start day off in the Word (this has become a non-negotiable even if I don’t want to I do it)

•Sing in the shower

•Walk to places if feasible

•Go to coffee shops to sit and journal/ draw/ read/ converse whatever fills you up

•Make plans with friends and pursue them even if you’re feeling lonely and not pursued

•Pet the dog that walks by you

•Get our for a run or get 30 minutes in of a workout

•Try Hot Yoga

•Try anything that brings activity into your life (My mom just recently got me a bike! V Excited)

•Show up to places on time/early

•Do something that makes you laugh when nobody is watching

•Find what brings you JOY and do it

•Do something silly when everyone is watching

•Accept that you are flawed and that there is room to grow but who you are right now is enough.

•Binge watch Netflix every now and then

•Keep a prayer journal and write them down every night.

•Speak life into your dreams and future self

•Listen to understand not to respond

•Pray for your future (or current) spouse

•Treat people with kindness even when they don’t

•Allow yourself to feel the emotions you’re feeling but not be ruled by them

•Breathe

•Focus on the Good

•Speak a truth over yourself when some speaks a lie or hurtful words over you.

•Tell people the beautiful qualities you see in them

•Speak truth when you try to speak a lie over yourself

•Cook/Host a meal for someone else

•Eat in more and invite friends over

•Sit outside and watch the sunset

•Get in the car and just drive (I don’t have my own car but whenever I get to use someone’s I do this)

•Seek healing from past wounds and speak to others about them

•Let people know what you’re going through and ask others what they’re going through

This isn’t an exhaustive list but it’s things I’ve learned along the way. Sometimes I do some more than others and sometimes I fail miserably. But, always remember: Today is a new day. Dust yourself off and get back up and continue on this journey of life. I am rooting for your joy and peace! If you have anything to add that has helped you please do so in the comments.
