I haven’t been posting much on what I’m actually doing in the countries as far as set Ministry is concerned so I promise I know and will try to be better.

So why not start right now? Ya know!

I’m with a team that got split up due to what we call “Manistry” so the men of the team are off doing whatever men do and the three girls have another squadleader, Sylvia, and myself with them for the month! So there’s five of us and we’re having some “Man-less-stry” here in Siem Reap, Cambodia! Were at a school, Agape School, teaching grades 1-5! Nicole and I have the 3rd grade classroom and I FREAKING LOVE IT! Way more than I thought I would. I never got the opportunity to teach for an entire month on my race so this is fairly new. We have complete reign in the classroom. They trust us, a little too much maybe, to lead this class in learning some English and of course having some fun along the way.

Our plan of action most days looks like this:

3rd Grade Classroom:

7:30-8:30am: Stretch, Songs (Jesus Loves Me & Hippopotamus Song), Review of materials and writing assignments.

20 minute break

8:50-10:00am: Bible Story and drawing to go along with it (the kids are pretty gifted in arts and absolutely love to draw)

10 minute break

10:10-11:00am: Review of things taught and some kind of educational game to reinforce the teachings.

11-2:30pm: Lunch break

1st Grade Classroom

2:30-3:40pm: Teach letters of the alphabet, sounds of each letter and have them write them 5 times each (usually two letters a day) then a game to see if they can actually find that letter when around other letters.

Then we teach two numbers and the correct spelling and a game to see if they can point out a number of things when in groupings together.

20 minute break

4-5:00pm: Go over shapes and spellings and a game similar to the ones above just pointing out shapes when they’re around other shapes. Then we finish with a couple songs and stretching exercises.

We do that M-F with two afternoons off since there’s five of us and no classroom that I’ve ever seen needs 5 teachers at once. So it has all worked out perfectly. We’ve been blessed with beds and A/C and just super thankful for that. We have time to get up and have our quiet time and I’m trying to get in the habit of working out so things are coming along nicely. God is definitely opening my eyes to things I never thought I would have an interest in and it’s been quite the ride with Him thus far so I’m excited and expectant for the future with Him and grateful for the present.

That briefly sums up our ministry, will be posting a blog with solely pictures of this months ministry and lodging next week so be on the lookout!

P.S. the school is actively praying and looking for a long term teacher/missionary to come live on the campus and teach so if you’re looking or know someone please share this with them and be lifting the school up in prayer. Thanks!
